Job Title: 9-12th Special Education Teacher

Job Summary: If you have a passion for unique, individualized approaches to learning, working collaboratively with all teachers and educational service providers, and are an experienced, licensed Special Education teacher, Greater Commonwealth Virtual School (GCVS) is looking for you. We’re seeking educators who can apply their unique skill sets to our proven, virtual home-based model of education, including teaching core subjects while implementing IEP goals and behavior plans. Flexibility and the ability to embody reflective teaching practices on an on-going basis are essential.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for working collaboratively with General Education Teachers and all other service providers in an Inclusive Practice model. This includes co-teaching with specific teachers and content areas.
- Provide direct services, both push-in and pull-out, as needed, to special needs students on your caseload
- Follow up with related service providers and general education teachers to confirm that IEP attendance, reports, and services are being completed
- Meet with Special Education families on caseload and their general education teacher(s)
- Keep notes on conversations about students and maintain a service log for all students
- Schedule IEP meetings on-line, and follow up on attendees, write IEP goals and objectives, obtain present levels/baselines using informal assessments
- Follow up with parental or teacher concerns
- Work closely with Evaluation Team Leader and Special Education Director on student/family concerns and issues
- Update Special education files in ESPED with accommodations, dates, and other needed information
- Test students as necessary during state testing
- Attend all Attend all Special Education staff meetings, grade level team meetings GCVS professional development meetings
- Complete IEP quarterly Progress Reports for each student
- Respond as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours to parent, student, teacher and admin inquiries via phone and/or e-mail during regular work week
Required Skills/Abilities:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- 9-12 Special Education Licensure in Massachusetts Required
- Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States require
- Candidate must have strong background in Technology
- This position requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment at efficient speed and for lengthy periods of time.
- Must be able to see details on a computer and use a computer effectively to communicate and access educational programs, create and maintain service log and other documents.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with numerous students at once by remote classroom participation including teaching, simultaneous computer work and hearing and seeing student and teacher responses.
- Must be able to work collaboratively and positively with all staff, especially those within the grade level.
- Must be able to occasionally travel in order to attend school wide outings, proctor MCAS testing, and/or Professional Development days.
Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in education/special education or related field is required. Masters degree preferred.
Candidates must have a strong background with technology.
