Fax: 413-475-3909 info@gcvs.org ? www.gcvs.org Job Title: Director of Student Services Department: Senior Leadership Team/Administration Start Date: July 1, 2026 (work year is 12 months) Contract Duration: To be negotiated with the Superintendent Reports to: GCVS Superintendent Salary Range: $125,000 to $145,000 Position Summary: The Director of Student Services provides leadership across GCVS to ensure that all students-particularly those requiring specialized or additional supports-receive equitable access to high-quality programs and services. The Director oversees Special Education, Section 504, English learner support, counseling and mental-health services, nursing/health services, and other student support programs and activities as assigned, in full compliance with state and federal laws. This position works closely with the GCVS Principals and other administrators to ensure compliance with appropriate laws and regulations. Duties and Responsibilities: ? Provide vision and direction for GCVS systems supporting diverse learners to ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, ADA, Chapter 71B, Title VI, and 603 CMR. ? General supervision over the identification, referral, evaluation, and program planning for special education students across GCVS. This includes out of district placements, all grants for special education, special education increment funding, hearings, mediation, SEPAC, contracted services, ESY planning, program compliance, and the Problem Resolution System (PRS). ? Complete special education increment funding and assist in the budget process. ? Lead role for the LEA Determination work at GCVS. ? Serve as the GCVS 504 manager and oversee coordination of 504 plans. ? Provide professional development for appropriate staff to ensure a consistent degree of expertise and experience in special education regulations, 504 regulations, team facilitation, understanding of evaluation data and educational disability eligibility determinations. ? Oversight of GCVS ELL programming. Collaborate with GCVS leadership to ensure appropriate identification, placement, assessment and support of English Learners. ? Ensure compliance with DESE guidance, federal civil rights requirements and parent communication in home language services. ? Train appropriate administrators and staff on IEP, 504, ELL implementation and documentation. ? Supervise and evaluate the Coordinator of Student Support to ensure GCVS adheres to state health and nursing regulations, GCVS policies related to nursing, create protocols for hospitalizations, and other student support services. Page 2 ? Supervise and evaluate the Coordinator of SEL and Student activities to promote SEL, trauma informed and culturally responsive services across GCVS. ? Work closely with GCVS Principals and other administrators at each grade band to align student counseling and psychological services across GCVS. ? Participate in the MTSS team as needed for restructuring and implementation. ? Build effective partnerships with GCVS families. ? Serve as liaison to DESE, collaboratives, and community agencies as needed. ? Prepare routine reports and presentations for administration and the GCVS Board of Trustees. Has experience working in special education, school leadership and student support services. ? Familiarity with the MA Educator Evaluation Framework, observation tools, and coaching strategies. ? Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and methodology of effective virtual teaching for all students. ? Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain a student-centered, equity-focused approach. ? Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents. ? Demonstrated exemplary skills in oral and written communications including excellent human relations skills. ? Ability to keep and maintain detailed accurate records and to proactively meet deadlines. ? Possesses strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills. ? Extensive knowledge of IDEA, 504/ADA, Chapter 71B, and 603 CMR. ? Demonstrated skill in supervision, collaboration, family engagement, and problem solving. Experience and Licensure: ? Demonstrated effective leadership experience supporting student services. ? Experience supervising, mentoring and evaluating educators preferred. ? Experience working in or closely with Massachusetts public schools and student services strongly preferred. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in education, student services, or school leadership. ? Master’s degree or higher in Education, Counseling, or related field required. ? Appropriate Massachusetts licensure required or evidence that proves eligibility for appropriate licensure. ? Additional training/certification in SEL and trauma-informed practices preferred. Location Preference: Applicants residing in the Massachusetts area are strongly preferred, with the ability to travel to locations across the state and attend GCVS events as needed.
