GCVS is a growing Massachusetts public virtual school that offers our teachers and staff members the excitement of exploring innovative pathways in education. We are seeking a passionate educator to lead our High School CTE program and 8th-grade foundational technology course. This role bridges technical certification prep with essential digital literacy for middle schoolers. AS A VIRTUAL TEACHER you will: ? Deliver innovative live classroom lessons over Schoology / Zoom while fostering a learning environment that prioritizes individual student needs ? Create and modify lesson plans that reflect the diverse backgrounds of our students and meet program goals ? Engage and nurture relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to manage and refine course goals ? Foster a virtual environment that is conducive to learning, creativity, and student engagement High School CTE & Program Development ? Teach High School Instructional Technology courses specifically aligned with CompTIA licensing requirements to prepare students for certification exams ? Partner with stakeholders across the school to design and launch additional HS CompTIA certification courses 8th Grade Foundational Instruction: ? Direct students in the advanced use of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides to ensure functional digital literacy ? Equip students with strategies to systematically organize, label, and retrieve documents within Google Drive
Page 2 ? Instruct students on professional and academic document standards, including proper essay formatting, margins, and citation layouts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ? Bachelor’s degree ? Appropriate Massachusetts teaching licensure in Digital Literacy/ Computer Science (5-12) or Technology Education [Industrial Arts] (5-12) ? Exemplary proficiency in the Google Suite and Microsoft Office ? Current or previous CompTIA certifications (A+ preferred) ? Strong written/verbal communication skills *Although mainly a virtual position, at times it is required to travel within and between assigned geographic areas to support students with MCAS testing, attend regularly scheduled meetings, and participate in school activities PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ? Three (3) years teaching experience, specifically with middle and high school aged groups ? DESE SEI Endorsement ? Experience supporting students in using various educational technology tools and learning management systems ? Experience working in a virtual environment ? Additional CompTIA certifications (Network+, Security+) Key Responsibilities: ? Lead the design and implementation of a new High School IT licensing program, specifically developing pathways for CompTIA certifications ? Deliver high-level technical instruction for High School courses aligned with professional licensing requirements ? Plan, prepare, and create rigorous instructional activities that meet both state standards and industry certification goals ? Direct 8th-grade students in the advanced application of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides to ensure high-level digital literacy ? Explicitly teach students how to systematically organize, label, and locate documents within Google Drive ? Provide direct instruction on professional formatting for essays, including margins, headers, and citation layouts ? Conduct support sessions to differentiate instruction based on individual student learning needs ? Create and maintain a positive, inclusive virtual environment that encourages student creativity and engagement ? Utilize and modify curriculum to reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the GCVS student body
Page 3 ? Work closely with program coordinators and the IT team to ensure all school initiatives and technical goals are met ? Establish and communicate clear learning objectives for every activity to ensure students understand the “why” behind their digital work ? Participate in the MA State Teacher Evaluation System and engage in ongoing professional development and training sessions. |
