Job Title: Special Education Paraprofessional
Department: Instructional Support
Reports To: Director of Special Education Teacher
Job Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a student-focused, special education support team. The Special Education Paraprofessional will be working directly with some of the most challenged students and must be able to build relationships with students and staff in order to best support students.
Excellent communication skills are required and technological proficiency is a must.
The Special Education Paraprofessional may be working in small groups and/or individual sessions with students with IEPs who require specific support and direction. This position requires that the paraprofessional support specified students within the inclusion classroom with and/or under the guidance and direction of the Special Ed teacher, Spec Ed Coordinator or Spec Ed Director. This position requires someone to be flexible with a growth mindset and ability to adjust to grade level and/or student assignments with a positive attitude.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Direct academic/social support for small groups of high school age students
- Full-time for 2025-2026 School year
- Support students in completing their online coursework
- Develop personal success plans and motivate students to fulfill these plans
- Work to develop student social and community skills
- Work collaboratively with school staff and administration
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient with computer technology
- Ability to take direction/guidance from Special Education teacher(s)
- Collaborate professionally with Special Education and other staff
Education and Experience:
- Associates/Bachelor Degree in Education preferred
- 3 years of experience working with middle and high school students with a wide range of challenges including but not limited to Autism and/or emotional or intellectual disabilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient with computer technology
- Ability to take direction/guidance from Special Education teacher(s)
- Collaborate professionally with Special Education and other staff
- Ability to interact and communicate in a positive manner with students, parents/Learning Coach, and staff
